New Year's Day to March During the school holidays we run a kid's programme from the 26th December to the 4th February so check the programme when you arrive. Not only do we have a lot happening in the park during these months, there are plenty of events happening around the Waihi area. Make sure you head to the beach on New Year's Day for the annual Sports Day run by the surf club.

January

4th - 'Miss Waihi Beach' (17yrs+), 'Miss Teen Waihi Beach' (13-16yrs), 'Miss Junior Waihi Beach' (8-12yrs), 'Tiny Tots' (4-7yrs) - Under the marquee beside the Waihi Beach Hotel from 3pm onwards.

10th - 'Avocado Food and Wine Festival' - 11.30am to 6.00pm, Uretara Domain, Katikati.

11th - 'Donovan Frankenreiter concert' with Katchafire and The Little Bushman - 4.00pm start, Waihi Beach Hotel.

14th - 'Jungle Rumble' presented by Animated Soundz - Waihi Beach School Hall - 10:00am and 11:00am shows of 30mins each - $3.00 per person.

17th to 18th  - 'World Hydroplane Championships' - Tauranga Harbour, The Strand.

17th to 18th - 'McEntee Hire Pro Tour Beach Volleyball' - 9.00am to 6.00pm, Main Beach, Mount Maunganui.

23rd to 24th - 'Waihi Body Art Workshop, Show & Photo Exhibition' - Waihi Anglican Church Hall, Waihi.

23rd onwards - 'The 38th Waihi Summer Festival' - Waihi's annual arts festival and exhibition - over 300 exhibits, Waihi Memorial Hall, Waihi.

24th to 25th - 'Mills Reef Under the Stars' - Mills Reef Winery, Bethlehem. Tickets $35 from TicketDirect.

25th - 'Waihi Children's Art Competition and Exihibition' - Entries close 5 Jan - Waihi Memorial Hall.

25th - 'The Annual Bowentown Bathtub Regatta' - Check in at midday at the Bowentown Boating and Sportfishing Club, Bowentown.

February

1st - 'Waihi Beach 2km Ocean Swim' - sponsored by Waihi Beach Top 10 Holiday Park, in association with the Katikati Masters Swimming Club - 10.00am start from Orokawa Bay.  $10.00 entry.  Ask at reception for further details.

7th - 'Billabong Grom Surf Classic' - 11:00am to 2:00pm, Whangamata.

14th - 'Twin Rivers Water Ski Race' - Starts at the Ngatea bridge, finishing under the Paeroa bridge.

14th - 'House of Shem' - 8:30pm, Heavenly harmonies, conscious lyrics and a blend of traditional and reggae styles - Waihi Beach Hotel, tickets from Ticketek.

14th - 'Moggies Markets' - 8:00am to 12:00pm (and the 2nd Saturday of every month), Katikati Memorial Hall.

15th - 'Gold Town Good Times Scramble' - Old style motorcross, fundraising for Waihi College RugNet 2009, 4kms south of Waihi town on Tauranga Rd/SH2.

21st - 'Greg Churchill' playing at Chambers Bar & Restaurant in Waihi, door sales available on the night.  Bus available from Waihi Beach.

March

25th - 'The Beach Hop Warm Up Party' - Seddon St, Waihi. A couple of great rock'n'roll bands in the street. Your chance to preview this premier event.

26th to 29th - 'The Whangamata Annual Beach Hop' - NZ's biggest celebration of the 1950's & '60's!  Enjoy a 4 day festival with music, culture, hotrods, fashion, dancing and nostalgia.
